Rumor: XBox360 will get a price cut??

This has been a long rumor, getting hotter after Sony's USD100 price cut for PS3's to be discontinued 60GB models.

The Hollywood Reporter recently is citing an unnamed source that seems to think the Xbox 360 is going to get a USD50 drop sometime in August. They go on to say that the pending price drop is because of the traditional sales doldrums during this time of the year (huh?) while other sources have pointed out of the proximity to "Halo 3" being launched in September.

Or it's because Microsoft is trying to revive the "Xbroken" with a price cut, as they are very close to being thumped by Nintendo Wii as the console market leader? We will know if this price cut is indeed a fact come August. I will not be surprised at all if Microsoft does indeed cut the Xbox prices to face up to competition, from Wii as well as PS3.

How this will affect prices in MY is anyone's guess as even Asian PS3s have not got any price cut announcement yet.
