HDMi enabled Xbox360 Premiums still uses 90nm chips.

It has been noted that the new HDMI enabled Xbox360 Premiums still uses the older Zephyr boards. This means that these batch of Xbox360s are still using the older and hotter 90nm chips, the key suspect in the infamous three Red Ring of Death hardware failure.

However, Microsoft have added a second "daughter" heatsink to the CPU via a heatpipe, to deal with the heat issues. No news of the new 65nm boards manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, codenamed Falcon, or when it will appear on the Xbox360s, althought it has been rumored it will appear sometime during Fall 07.

So it may be still better to see how the newer HDMI-ed Xbox360 with the double heatsink performs before investing in them, or wait a while longer for the rumored 65nm boards to appear in the Xbox360s.
